Start with the water resource
Provide gross head and, if available, net head after hydraulic losses. Add design flow and seasonal or flow-duration information. State whether measurements are preliminary or confirmed. A single peak-flow figure does not describe year-round operation.
Define the electrical duty
State desired output, unit count, frequency, generator voltage and grid-connected or isolated operation. Include the relevant grid requirements or technical specification if available. These inputs affect the equipment package and control requirements.
Draw the supply boundary
List turbine, generator, governor, inlet valve, excitation, control panels, transformer, switchgear and auxiliary systems. Identify the civil contractor and describe who supplies the penstock, installs equipment and carries out commissioning.
Compare the offer consistently
Ask each bidder to identify assumptions, exclusions, guaranteed operating points where offered, test scope, drawings, delivery basis and spare parts. Request clarification where a range is shown instead of the actual proposed configuration.
